We were expecting something totally different, like where we were going to learn the ins and outs and history of the pinball machines but it was literally rooms and rooms of vintage pinball and arcade games that you could play. Then the decor here was out of this world.
Fun, cool… it really sent me back to my childhood. We spent about an hour here, no wait, lots of space, and hand Sanitizers. They have beer too which makes this experience even better! Go go go! We randomly came to this place because we were on the waitlist for lunch at a restaurant. My friend tried different versions of pinball from different periods of time. They also have digital version and few limited editions. So, your wristband is valid for the day, which is great!
Awesome theming and a good mix of pinball machines along with arcade classic cabinets. Even the bathrooms are themed! This is an incredible arcade spot to visit. Barbecue restaurant. The location is right downtown close to a bunch of breweries, which is perfect if you want to grab lunch before, after, or during your brewery crawl. The building is an old warehouse that they turned into a huge open space dining area with an industrial chic vibe.
The fried chicken sandwich is the best in town. Really cool spot! Hush puppies were delicious. Highly recommend the Lions Share cocktails. Thank you to Scout for being a really kind and personable server.
Food was awesome and the atmosphere is so cool! Huge windows with a little lovely mountain ridge view. They even have murals on the walls from Really cool little gem. We enjoyed our lunch here, but I wouldn't necessarily say we have to make this a regular stop.
The sweet tea was perfectly sweet. BBQ is vinegar-based and on the meh side. Honestly can't recommend any of the sauces. We learned about this place from the Food Network, so our expectations were high. The atmosphere was neat and our waitress was friendly. We seated ourselves per their sign's instructions and apparently we sat in a table that gets served by the bar. The bartender did show up a few minutes later, and apologized for the wait.
I would describe the food as ok - but nothing to write home about. I ordered the fish sandwich with lima beans. I didn't really care for the seasonings in the beans. My husband ordered the chopped brisket po boy sandwich with french fries. The chopped brisket was more like pulled brisket. The taste was fine for both meals - but this isn't a place I'd make a special trip to. Book store. What is one of the most unique bars in Asheville for bookworms?.
Known for its flights of champagne, Battery Park Book Exchange actually offers a wide wine selection though the champagne choices are top shelf and were perfectly paired with local chocolate truffles. Seuss book, and patrons may add their own message inside.
The books are also for sale and we took a few home. This place is such a little treasure. The concept of a book store that serves food, cocktails, and bakery items is brilliant. I love the different levels with books galore and seating on every level. My only complaint was the not so friendly hostess. I was alone and wanted to sit outside but the table offered to me was inside and felt out in the open.
If I was with someone else I may not have minded but I felt a little on display. I asked if I could sit outside but she said nothing was available but a few minutes later sat a couple outside. I still enjoyed myself and my waiter was fantastic, I wish I remembered his name. Wonderful experience for literary themed drinks and food! You're seated in a dining area with cafe tables and chairs or comfy couches in the bookstore.
The drinks and food are named after classic novels, and there's a non-alcoholic menu so everyone can be included! It's a great champagne bar in a bookstore that I absolutely adore. I didn't have any photos from inside the bookstore but it is absolutely adorable! They have the genres sectioned off perfectly, so you know exactly where to go! Employees were extremely helpful and sweet! They also had a blind date with a book section, the book was wrapped up so you couldn't see what it was, and a typed synopsis was on the front to tell you what it was about without giving it away!
This bookstore is so charming and well curated. A must-visit in Asheville! Cozy book store with a good selection. They have some great picks displayed on the tops of the bookcases in the fiction section and also a bestseller section near the front. And a nice surprise was a selection of books that you can buy without looking at the cover. The books are individually wrapped and have things such as genre and brief descriptions writing in the front of the wrapping.
You choose your book based on that and when you buy it, you get to unwrap your surprise book. Lovely idea. Spanish restaurant. Show 5 more. This place and menu are all about celebrating authentic Spanish cuisine which means — tapas!.
The restaurant itself has a modern, chic, cozy, eclectic feel. I would highly recommend making a reservation in advance, but walk-ins are welcome at the bar if you are lucky enough to snag a spot. Absolutely stunning lunch. The specialty cocktails were outstanding. Perfectly balanced and unique without being gimmicky. Every single bite of food was delish. Creative layering of flavors AND spot-on execution. The standouts for us were the fried eggplant crispy golden pillows of melt-in-your-mouth savoriness and the burnt grapefruit and "tonic snow" dessert -- what an unexpected dare I say mind blowing , utterly delightful combination of bitter and sweet!
Service was faultless -- professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Pacing was likewise perfectly timed. The food is excellent. The staff is great. However I took off a star because it is ridiculously loud and not recommended for a quiet romantic meal. I'd recommend some noise dampening or other acoustic treatment. Pictures are of the Spanish tour minus one or two courses we ate too quickly.
One of the few places that lives up to and surpasses the hype. The pork is amazing. There is no other way to describe it. However, the goat cheese stuffed peppers with parsley salsa verde absolutely stole the show. One of the best dishes I have ever had. Breakfast restaurant. While you wait, grab a coffee or mimosa and chill on the patio or stroll through their fruit and vegetable garden. The maple black pepper bacon is life changing, your mouth will thank you. I love this place. They have a garden out back and indoor, outdoor, and sheltered porch seating.
The vibe of the peace is so chill, and the staff is very helpful. The food was great, and they change up their menu often. We got the shrimp and grits, chicken and waffle sandwich, and the lemon pepper crusted trout. The risotto in the trout was so amazing and perfect. The food came out in a timely manner, and everything was perfect. Amazing cocktails. Got their gin cocktail and it was strong not that we minded. Ordered the pecan crusted fried green tomato sandwich and shrimp and grits.
All were delicious. Service was attentive and friendly. Cute place. Loved that it uses local vendors for their food. Even in winter time the patio was super toasty with its enclosure and heaters. The food was amazing and arrived quickly. The servers were all really helpful and friendly. You would never know it was mid-February when we went South Asian restaurant. Indian chaat street snacks plus homestyle platters thalis in a funky, laid-back space. My go to is the chicken tikka roll or the butter chicken.
From the moment you walk through the door your senses are seduced by all the enticing aromas. Last time we were in Asheville, this place was boarded up because of the pandemic. Now it's open, and we've found another place to eat when we're here. We were seated at the bar immediately got there around pm on a Saturday , and picked up the drink special frozen raspberry daquiri , then got an appetizer and two chicken Tikka wraps, which were incredible.
The bartender was friendly and chatted with us about everything, and even recommended her favorite chutneys and said they make their own bitters in-house. I wanted to try everything on the menu and we will certainly be back.
Truly the best Indian food I've ever had in the United States! I had heard about this place before our trip to Ashville and it was on my list of must-try places. We found the restaurant hours at most places in Ashville weren't great, many closed a few days every week which meant we had to try certain places all within specific days and a lot of them were open on the same days. Looking at their website I think this had more to do with the pandemic than what their business is typically like.
My friend and I are visiting Asheville for the weekend and a lot of people recommended this place to me. When we arrived it was a 1. While we were hungry, I was advised it was worth the wait. A little over 1. The staff was kind and accommodating to my allergies. The food was delicious and the service was great! The naan was impressively soft with perfect crispy browning. Highly recommend the Sev Potato Dahi Puri appetizer. All the textures and flavors in these bite-sized portions were the best way to start the meal.
The creamy butter chicken was the special of the day and it did not disappoint. The food was truly incredible! The flavors are so rich and well blended. It was a real gift to my palette! We got the sweet potato chaat as an appetizer and wow! What an array of flavors! It was somehow both sweet and savory! For my main dish, I got the sloppy Jai, which is their take on a sloppy joe. I'm convinced the bhel puri is not from this earth, this beautifully balanced and sweet yet crunchy and acidic chutney that just glows with every bite.
Add on to that the chicken pakoras, some fries-like okra, and the vada pav and you'll see the magic. Just wish I left room for the butter chicken! I'm still thinking about it! Lot of good beers, variety of different flights you can do. They've got food too, which we didn't wind up checking out on this first visit.
But nice to know you can just hang, have some beers and a bite to eat. Really nice staff too. Like I said, good vibe! Great sours, and the girls loved the wine flights. The place was really cool. The decor is retro, and it feels like you are in a burbon barrel. It had a black light area near the bathroom, too really neat!
This is the perfect hippy place to fill all your biscuit desires and did I tell you they have a jam bar!. They offer a bunch of beverages including a maple bacon latte, sake bloody mary and of course mimosas. This was a place that came highly recommended - and it met those expectations! We must have arrived at the perfect time. There was no line. We were barely even seated for a minute before our food came out. I ordered the Southern Scramble and my husband ordered the Filthy Animal.
Make sure you are very hungry - you get a lot of food! There are a lot of 5 star reviews and I am hesitant with my 3 stars. We are visiting and someone suggested Biscuit Head. They had me at biscuit. The menu leans toward the heavy and unhealthy, but there is nothing wrong with that on occasion. I went for the biscuits. The scrambled eggs were fluffy and tasty. The bacon was awesome. I loved the idea that they take many traditional southern recipes and add their local flair. For instance, the pimento cheese grits were different, yet, tasty.
The jam bar was awesome. The different flavors that they offer are remarkable. The coffee was exceptional. The portions were plentiful. In short, it was a great experience. There is something on the menu for most if not all. I enjoyed it. Biscuit Head is located in Doctor's Park, which may be required, as a plate from this quick service spot could send you into a food coma. The line out the door shouldn't scare you, as the ordering process is seamless with quality recommendations by the cashiers.
With a jam bar, all made in house, and several types of coffee to choose from. I snagged The Filthy Animal, which was topped with a slightly spicy "pimento" cheese. Talk about a high quality, fluffy biscuit!
Paired with thick bacon and a juicy piece of fried chicken, you just can't lose. The Southern Scramble was a dish anyone would like, we added Sriracha Maple sausage. We also snagged the fried green tomato stack featured on the scramble dish. Let me tell you, the slight bittersweet tomato against the pimento cheese just sang, it was really a masterful execution of flavor. You won't need salt or pepper on any of these dishes, as they're perfectly seasoned out of the kitchen just as expected.
Enjoy y'all! Thrift store. The ambience is a more quiet and intimate dining scene as opposed to the downtown vibe. They have an amazing outside garden area for dining during the warmer months. I love going to this particular goodwill. Everyone is so friendly and kind. Customer service is great. Anything you need they try to accommodate. Shopping there is so much fun, theres always something new to find. Come be apart of the goodwill family at the Patton avenue location.
Your pretty standard Goodwill experience; lots and lots of unorganized junk with the occasional AwEsOmE treasure. I can picture my mother, for example, being totally disgusted by the whole thing as it is literally 9X4 troughs of As close as you can get to stealing as far as prices go. Sometimes as low as 25 or even 15 cents per pound of clothing so if you're looking for rock bottom prices with an equally valued shopping experience this is your place!
They had no buggies? Made shopping with a 2 year old a little challenging. They used to have alot more I feel like. Its been years since I had been there, and it'll probably be years before I go back. African restaurant.
Esquire magazine named this place one of the top five new restaurants in America. You really get more than a meal here; you get an experience. The servers are extremely knowledgeable and informative not only about the menu but the history of African American cuisine. What an amazing experience at Benne on Eagle! Food and service were both top notch! The host was able to get us sat quickly and the rest of the evening was quite lovely! Such great flavor profiles!! Soft egg, crawfish, roasted veg.
It was fabulous. Loved the flavor, what a great dish!! We also absolutely loved the Plantains Foster, a well thought out dessert that was a great finish to our meal. Stopped in for Sunday brunch before hitting the road on the last day of our Asheville trip. The menu must change every so often - looking at it now I don't see what we had last weekend. But the scramble that included crispy capers and I believe trout at the time was excellent. Got a side of their pork sausage too, which the waitress recommended, and it was also quite good.
Unique kinda homemade flavor and texture. I'd definitely go back! I ate dinner at Bene yesterday and enjoyed the experience. The relaxing atmosphere, eye-catching interior, and friendly and helpful staff all contributed to a great time. The food also made the experience wonderful. These items were flavorful and filling. I highly recommend Bene and will eat there again without question!
